"God Almighty"

Link to picture
I chose this picture because of the fact that it is a cemetery full of people that have died during the war. But this isn't what interested me the most, what really stood out to me was the flag and the words that say "God Almighty." this shows how deeply religious and faithful these people are in God. With all their problems and hardships that they've been through, they turn to God for help.

what it means to be an Iranian.

Naveed Nour is a Iranian/German photographer who is based in Boston.  This is an image I want to discuss:  http://www.naveednour.com/pomegranate.html
I was drawn to this picture because of the colors, the use of bold colors to dull colors to signify the way the people look like and wear.
It shows women covered in wraps standing, they look kind of scared most of them looking in one direction, next to them are men, dressed in shirts, jackets , and
jeans.
I think Nour photographed this  to show how men and women dress and act like when they are together, he wanted the audience to see the differences between men and women.

Now and Then...

What I like about this photo is that it seems to show how things were in the past and how they are now. It shows the difference in time and all that has changed from now ( today) to back in the past.

Also depending on what way you look at it, it might also seem like it's showing the difference between two different countries. For instance,  it seems like it is showing what life is like in a two different countries. The black and white picture seems like that image is from a poorer country  verses the color pic which seems more affluent.

the other side.

Naveed Nour is an Iranian photographer, but he was born in Germany. He went to a photography university, and also traveled around Iran, through war zones. I named this post "the other side," because when some people think about the Middle East or Iran they might think racist thoughts like they are murderers or jihadist.

If you take a look at their side of the world though you can see that they may have similar thoughts about us. They have deaths too, and they may be caused by us, or the war and indifference that is going on in their country. As we in America have problems they too have problems that are similar to ours such as crime, murder, drinking, and lack of jobs. - Damon Michael Torell Weiser.

War chaos

This image is by Naveed Nour. This image captured my attention because of all the colors and positions that the people in the image were located at. Its definitely not something you see everyday. I think that Naveed Nour took this picture because he lived and traveled throughout Iran. Including the war-zones during the war between Iran and Iraq. This picture kind of explains the consequence of war on society. It captures pain and confusion on the citizens.

Colliding Worlds

I like picture because of the contrast. It shows that past and present aren't that different from each other.

Why do you think Mr. Nour photographed this image? What is he trying to convey to audiences?

We will be seeing Mr. Nour in the lecture hall on Tuesday! So be prepared to ask questions!
