Shelbo, Netherlands.

The Netherlands use of Media is in a practice called pillarisation which is when a country's various religions and social groups all organize their own institutions, with financial help from the Government. All of this institutions include their broadcasting. The system of pillarisation had collapsed in the 1970's, but most of the broadcasting associations stayed at large and remained active. Most associations have several tens of thousands of members, they distribute their broadcasting time on the public channels in portion to their size of their memberships. Each of the broadcasting associations share three national T.V. channels (Nederland 1, Nederland 2, Nederland 3) and five radio channels (Radio 1, Radio 2, 3FM, Radio 4, Radio 5). Each of the channels have their own type of media. Nederland 1 is made for news, sport, and family programming, Nederland 2 towards culture, arts, politics, and religion, while Nederland 3 concentrates on youth and progressive programming.
