When he came to the U.S. he had been a proprietor of a clothing store and he was a videographer. His cousin who is a french street artist called Invader introduced him to street art. Since Thierry knew how to use a camera he began to follow more street artists. Eventually he met up with artists Shephard Fairey and Banksy and recorded them as well. Soon, Banksy encouraged thierry to create his own street art since he had seen the various ways to do it. With his graphic designers he created his first art show called Life is Beautiful. The show was delayed many times until finally opening on June 18, 2008 in Los Angeles.

Mr Brainwash

Mr Brainwash, also known as Thierry Guetta, or MBW is a french artist and film maker now living in Los Angeles California. At first, Mr Brainwash was just a french immigrant who came to Los Angeles starting his life in America as a clothing store proprietor and a videographer, but then as he was first introduced to the idea of street art from his cousin known as ''Invader'', his whole life took a turn in another direction. Intrigued by the beauty creativity of street art and what people like ''Invader'' did, he continued following people of such nature and talents with his video camera. With a video camera in hand and mind hungry for more street creativity, Thierry Guetta proceeded to follow more street artist such as Shepard Fairy and Banksy. After years of following these artist, mainly Banksy, Thierry took the tons of tape recorded over the years and attempted to create a documentary, unsuccessfully. So then Thierry had a different idea suggested to him by his good friend Banksy. Thierry, being exposed to years of Banksy's and other proffesional's art work decided to make his own. Leaving behind his clothing business and dedicate everything he had to his artwork, Thierry,Working with a team of graphic designers, managed to create his first art gallery called ''Life is Beautiful.'' Consisting of many breathtaking exhibits such as a robot made entirely of TV's and giant Campbell's spray can and much much more, was a huge success. Originally supposed to be open 2 weeks longs, the enormous success kept its doors open for 3 months since almost 30,000 people came. His success did not stop here, as he took New York by storm with his again successful show called ''ICON REMIX'', and then continued to Miami, where he ended 2010 on a powerful note, with a show in south beach called ''Under Construction.''Thus Banksy, a legendary street artist turned the camera on the man who was filming him all along(Thierry) in the documentary ''Exit Through the gift shop''.

Exit Through The Gift Shop

Exit through the gift shop is a documentary about different artists who express their art on the streets, also known as graffiti. What I think about this film is that there are many ways and techniques to express art work. This film took normal artwork and changed it into something different that the world wasn't use to seeing. One of the characters, Terry, showed his interest in the different street artists by filming them and developing his own passion for the street art.My overall impression of the film is that I liked the film because it was for people to show their emotions and feelings through the art. I feel that some of the artwork, for example by Banksy, was a little too pricey. I wouldn't pay 30,000$ just to have a piece of his work hanging on my wall. What's unique about him is that he's mysterious and that no body knows who he is. It's amazing that you could be so famous but no body knows what you look like. A memorable scene in the movie was when Banksy's art exhibit featured a painted elephant to camouflage with the wall. I didn't even know that you could paint an elephant like that. Thinking about how they manage to keep the animal calm while decorating it. A character that I remembered was "space invader". I found it cute that this particular street artist went around the city and plastered little mosaic aliens in random places. Overall I liked the movie but I'm still trying to find out how people can take something and call it art. The amazing thing about street art is that although it is temporarily and illegal, people find ways to show everyone their talent and amazing skill throughout the streets.

Exit Through the Gift Shop

The documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop is about the world of street art, featuring stars such as the anonymous Banksy, Shepard Fairy, who created Obey the Giant, and Mr. Brainwash. The movie starts out with Mr. Brainwash, whos actual name is Thierry Guetta, as a filmmaker, filming the many street artists in Los Angeles, and around the world. Eventually, Guetta meets Banksy, a legend in street art. Eventually, Guetta gets into street art himself, and calls himself Mr. Brainwash. Mr. Brainwash eventually started to become very full of himself, and decided to create an art show. Thierry worried too much about hyping the show up instead of putting the art itself up. However, the show ended up being extremely successful, over 30,000 people came. Thierry sells a million dollars worth of his art, to the surprise of Banksy and Shepard Fairy. Overall, I enjoyed watching this movie, it is one of the better documentaries that I have seen.

Watertown High School Vs. Cardinal Spellman

On Tuesday afternoon, the Watertown High School boys varsity basketball team played Cardinal Spellman for the Division 3 semi- finals. To start the game off, Cardinal Spellman took a quick lead, which got the Watertown crowd nervous. However, within five minutes, Watertown took over the lead, and never looked back, leading for the rest of the game, and winning easily 56-35. With this win, Watertown will play the winner of Whitinsville Christian and Lennox on Saturday at the DCU Center in Worcester for the state championship. If Watertown finds a way to win this game, it will be there third state championship in five years. Marco Coppola led all scores with 26 points.

Favorite Movie

My favorite movie has to be the film Titanic. Although it isn't recent I still like the movie because it's a love story that also recreates the vision of what the ship Titanic may look like. The film was directed and co edited by James Cameron . The film was edited by Richard A Harris. Editing is important in film making because it brings the story together that is presented to the audience. Film editing is also important to cut out any unnecessary scenes that may seem boring to the audience.

Favorite film+Favorite editor

My favorite movie of all time is Scarface.
It is my favorite film because I found the story line to be exceptionally great, and it really could capture the viewers attention with many of its graphic, yet amazingly well directed scenes. I found that the director (Brian Depalma) did an excellent job bringing the somewhat historically true story line to life, and the main actor (Al Pacino) also did a wonderful job portraying the role of Tony Montana, a Cuban immigrant coming to live the American dream in Miami who ends up climbing his way to the top. But who also did a great job putting it all together was the editor of the film, Gerald B. Greenberg. Although Gerald isn't as well known as the director or main actors of the film, he still had an incredibly important job in the making of Scarface, Editing. Why is it so important? Its important because without editing, all you have is a bunch of scramble shots, editing is needed not only to put all the shots together, but to really build the support and foundation of the film and to improve the way we all see our favorite movies. The way I look at it is that making a movie is like making a house, the shots are just the wood and stone scrambled around doing nothing. The editing is the nails and cement that puts them all together, and actually creates a full on house. And so that is why editing is important.

Favorite Film

My favorite movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas. The movie was directed by Henry Selick and edited by Stan Webb. This is my favorite movie because I had grown up to watching it all the time, introducing it to my sisters as I got older. I loved the hole concept of Jack from a Halloween world meets with Santa Clause from a Christmas world, joining the two opposite holiday's together. Other movies that Stan Webb has edited include James and the Giant Peach, Antz, La Mission and others. Film editing is a very important part in making films, it keeps the watchers attention and gets them interested. Without editing a movie would just be clumps of clips thrown together that wouldn't make much sense, and bore the watcher.

One of my favorite movies is The Dark Knight directed by Christopher Nolan and edited by Lee Smith. This is one of my favorite movies because it was filled with action and and contained a great plot that kept me on the edge of my seat. Some other movies that Smith has edited include, this summer's block buster Inception (also directed by Nolan) and Batman Begins (Nolan). Film editing is important because its what brings the movie together and what keeps it from being a bunch of clips put together. The film editor has to put the clips in an order that both makes sense and keeps the movie entertaining. Here is an interview with Christopher Nolan himself on the movie The Dark Knight

Favorite movie

My favorite movie is No Country for Old Men directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and edited by themselves under the name Roderick Jaynes. It is my favorite movie because I thought the story was interesting and well written and all the actors gave good performances. They have edited most of their films including The Big Lebowski, Burn After Reading and True Grit. Editing is very important to film because it puts all the scenes together to complete the movie and makes it interesting to watch.

Favorite movie

My favorite movie of all time is The Departed, which was directed by Martin Scorsese, and edited by Thelma Schoonmaker. The reason why this is my favorite movie of all time is because it was filmed in boston, and also it is loosely based off of the life of Whitey Bulger, who interests me very much. Thelma Schoonmaker has edited many different films. Schoonmaker has edited most of the films directed by Martin Scorsese, including Shutter Island, and Goodfellas. Editing is very important to filmaking because it completes the movie, cleaning up the transitions, and makeing it interesting to watch.

Favorite movie

My favorite movie is Inception directed by Christopher Nolan and edited by Lee Smith. I like this movie because I thought the concept of seeding an idea through some ones dreams intriguing. Lee Smith has edited many movies including The Dark Knight, The Truman Show, and The Prestige. Editing is important to film making because it allows the viewer to connect to the film, through editing shots are combined in accordance with the script to create a finished movie.
