NY Times video-A Rare Look Inside Pixar Studios

This video is about someone receiving a tour of Pixar's studio. I chose this video because I generally enjoy Pixar movies. This video contained tracking shots, long shots, zooms, and many more.

NY Times Video Willie Mays

I picked this video because Willie Mays is one of my favorite old baseball players right behind Babe Ruth. I also chose this video because it has many different camera angles and shots that were are learning about. For example there is a few dolly shots, a couple low angle shots, and some pan shots.

Some of the film techniques/terminology include......(film shots, etc).

Ny Times Video: Trent Reznor

I chose this video because it is about a person that interests me. He interest me because of his unique style of music that he creates. I was also interested in choosing the video because I wanted to learn more about how exactly Trent Reznor makes the sounds he makes manually with old equipment.

NY Times Video Skateboarding

I picked this NY Times video because it involves skateboarding which is one of my hobbies, also it shows how a new skate-park can make more then just skaters happy. Some of the film techniques/terminology include close up, long shot, pan, low angle and mid shot. Here is a LINK to the video.

NY Times Video: Chasing a Police Scanner

I picked this NY Times video because I found it very interesting how the press in the New York Times was responding to dangerous situations by following a police scanner.
I found that my video was mainly composed of long shots, medium shots, and some close ups. There was also a few dolly shots and point of view shots during the video.

NY times video- Fashion week

New York Times Video, Indian Farmers Left behind

I picked this New York Times video because the title caught my eye. This video was a way of showing me that life isn't always easy and that other people have to find ways to survive. For example farmers in India have to grow crops and try to sell them in order to make money for their family. Unfortunately, they don't always have luck maintaining their crops since they also have to compete with India's monsoon season which kills most of their crops and leaving them with no or not enough money for the month. Farmers have a difficulty making enough food and making food prices rise.
Some film shots that they use to describe India's farm land helps us have an idea of what life is like for its people. An example is an establishing shot of the farm land with two people working in the fields harvesting crops by hand. Another shot that the director used was a close up shot of the crops, showing us that water wasn't able to drain from farm lands resulting in rotted crops. Mid shots are also used to see people harvesting crops by hand.

NY Times Video Oil Spill

I picked this NY Times video about how the oil spill is still having an impact on Louisiana. I picked this video because I thought it was interesting how a town that has a lot of fisherman and has a lot of seafood restaurants were able to make money during the oil spill. Even now they are still having problems and are trying to clean up all the oil. Some film shots used in this video were close-ups, long shots and mid shots. Here is link to the video.

NY Times Video-Runaways

I picked this NY Times video because its shows kids that have run away from home and it shows what run away kids would do if they had no money and they start to think of doing stupid things like drug dealing and prostitution and this video also shows close up shots, long shots, medium shots, and over the shoulder shots.

NY Times Video Willie Mays

I picked this NY Times video because I found it very interesting to learn about where Willie Mays grew up as a child, and where he started his amazing baseball career. Some of the film techniques include close up, zoom in, long shot, and dolly shot.

Cathlyn Raley

My name is Cathlyn Raley and I was born in San Fernando, Philippines I'm half Filipino and half Vietnamese. I came to the United States when I was about 16-18 months old. I came to the US because my father was a US citizen and he lived in the united states. I have only lived in Watertown, MA since the beginning of July 2010. In my free time, if the weather is decent, I love going and getting out of my house, I love shopping and spending time with my family every Sunday going out to eat at restaurants or going to the mall. A few of my interests are: listening to music, watching videos on You tube, being with family and friends, Texting, Shopping, and going on Face book. After I graduate, I plan to attend college to get a degree in teaching. In this video production class, I would like to do a documentary project, I'm not sure what I want to do a document on but hopefully down the road I find something. My opinions about Watertown high school, Since this is my first and last year at the school, I think that it is a really nice school with friendly people. This school made my senior year a little better than I expected. I like coming to school sometimes but the only dislike is that I'm not a morning person and I have to wake up. I don't have a favorite subject this year but if I had to choose it would either be between English or Civics.

Shelby Gilbeau

I was born in the United States, over in Vermont. I've lived in Watertown since my junior year of high school, and I'm a senior now. In my free time I like to hang out with my friends and go snowboarding/skateboarding with them during the different seasons. After I graduate High School, I want to attend College for a degree in Computer Sciences to become a IT Tech along with my dad. I hope to work on Music Video's in this video production class, and hope to learn how to edit video's. Mac Miller is by far one of my favorite artists, I can bump to his music all day. I think Watertown High School has too strict of rules, they need to give the kids the freedom and respect they deserve, at least the seniors need off campus lunch time. I like coming to school to learn new things every day. My favorite class would be Woodworking, and my favorite teacher is probably Mr. Cooke.

Anthony Tresca

I was born in the United States, and have lived here my entire life. I have lived in Watertown since I was in seventh grade. Before I lived in Watertown, I lived with my parents, sister, and my mothers parents in Revere. In my free time, I like to hang out with my friends, and listen to music. Some of my interests are sports, especially basketball, music, T.V., movies and video games. After I graduate, I want to go to college, and then have a successful career after that, I'm not sure what of yet. In this class, some projects that I hope to work on are music videos. I think that Watertown High school, is a relatively good school, with a pretty good education program. I do not like coming to school, because I find it very boring and stressful. My favorite subject is English, and my favorite teacher in the school is Mr. Duggan. One of my favorite artists is Chris Webby.

BLOG Reflection

I enjoyed this class since the first day of school because this is a small class and everybody is friendly. My experience in this class was great because I learned a lot from this class. I learned to edit and make better videos from this class. I had fun making every videos and editing it for this class. I had fun writing raps for this class but in an educational way. I learned to edit better for movies that I had to do for every projects. I learned to use Garage band and i Movie even better from the special techniques I learned from Ms. V. I learned to be a better editor, better actor, and better performer because before I started this class, I was always nervous performing in front of the camera but from the encouragement and motivation from Ms. Ventura and my classmates, I started doing much better. My favorite memory from this class is when we had to do our own PSA's for the Savings. My favorite project was the making the movie with my classmates as a whole group. for the class. This class made me a better me because it encouraged me not to be nervous in front of the camera no more and it made me a better editor. And it might even help me to be an editor someday for Music Videos or Sports videos as a side job in the future. Thanks Ms.V

Midterm part 2

My blog should be about: my experience in the class, what did I learn, favorite memories, movies discussions, projects etc. How this class might help me in the future.

This year in video production was awesome I loved it, the things I experienced were how to edit different things on imovie and on final cut and such things like that. Editing was good because I made my different movies 10 times better. Also another thing I experienced was blogging a lot of different things because we did that majority of the year. My experiences were good this year because I learned a ton in video production that I didn't know. Some experiences were a little iffy sometimes because some projects had a lot of directions and were hard to do. Some favorite memories I had throughout this year was definitely the class movie we did because it was a lot of fun and it was really exciting to do and to watch! Another fun moment I had this year was doing our savings video because I talked about red cross and I was interested in learning about that topic and I ended up getting a lot of info on it. Also recently, I loved making my PSA with my friend Anurag that was also a lot of fun because we talked about bullying but we got to add cool features to our video like music and pictures so I'm glad I learned a variety of different things this year. I think this class might help me in the future because I will know or at least have an idea how to edit things if I'm getting taped for my sports games and I want to send it to a college I'll know how to edit it just in case but this class was a really good class because not only did I learn different things I had a lot of fun!! I look forward to learning more about video production in the future.
