End of movies?

Everyone knows that technology is huge now-a-days. Technology is now taking over old rituals. Even going to the movies. Yes, you read right. Less people are going to the movies. Instead they're watching movies from Video On Demand (VOD) from their TV's DVR. So now we don't even have to get out of our houses to watch movies. Movies are just a few clicks away instead of a few miles away. Pretty sweet, don't you think? But not for the movie makers. Everyone already knows that summer is the worst time for movies. They're rarely ever good or even make it to the Oscar nominations. Soon after summer, comes Fall. That's where the best Oscar winning movies come out. But since movies theaters are attracting less people, and the economy keeps on falling down, what will be of the movie makers and movies? Will they still make as a good of movies, even though we're watching it from our living room? Or will they just "slack-off"? Are we ending an era of movie theaters? Only time will tell.

It might seem like less people are going to the movies now, but think about how many people show up for premiers. Also, DVDs come out a while after the movie starts in theaters.

I don't think people will stop going to the movies. I think it's more of hanging out with your friends that lures people to movies instead of the actual movies themselves.

This is a good point that I never thought about before! I don't think everyone will stop going to movies because its something fun you can do with friends and family but it costs a lot to go to movies so you can't really expect people to go to the movie theatre every week.

I love Netflix to much to ever go see a movie in theaters again. Maybe I exaggerate a bit but I like to get my point across.

Even if the Theaters start to thin out a bit, that doesn't mean that they'll stop showing movies. There will always be at least one lone movie theater that will be popular, no matter what.
