Documentaries Blog: Planet Earth

Planet Earth is an 11 part television documentary series that aired on the Discovery Channel. It took 5 years in the making, and provides stunning visual footage of real life animals in nature. Each installment shows a different habitat on the planet, and the animals living in them. Narrated by Sigourney Weaver, these documentaries show animal behavior and remote locations that have never been caught on film before.

The 11 episodes are: Pole To Pole, Mountains, Deep Ocean, Deserts, Ice Worlds, Shallow Seas, Great Plains, Jungles, Freshwater, Forests, and Caves. The very first episode, which gives an overview of the rest of the series, examining life all over the globe. Each individual video is an hour long, showing astonishing footage and informing the viewer of the conditions and ways of life of the animals living in each habitat.

We should watch at least one of these episodes in class because they are extremely interesting, and the footage is incredible to see. It would give us an opportunity to learn about and see the planet we live on in a whole new way.
